OolongAiki's Archive / Florentine~~Exclusive!
« on: October 16, 2008, 08:33:33 PM »
Wow, it has been a long while since I've uploaded anything.  I promise that it wasn't because I don't still love you guys.  And to prove it, I give to you...the Florentine!

I've been building a lot of larger homes and after playing through them for a while something dawned on me:  It's taking my Simmies a full 45 minutes to get from the back of the house to the front just to greet a neighbor!  So that's when I decided to start building a few smaller homes for smaller families.  Small and packed with sophistication and luxury.

The Florentine is 2br/2bth with a garage and fireplace.  There is no custom content.

I just noticed your signature...I'm a filesharer too!  Arrgh and Ahoy matey!  I've always felt that the monniker 'pirate' was unfair.  We don't rape, pillage, or destroy...we share.  I think a much better nom de plume would be 'Robin Hood'.

OolongAiki's Archive / A Sense of the South *Exclusive*
« on: December 28, 2007, 12:54:29 AM »
This house belongs to one of the new families of the town I live in...new as in "not one of the founding families, but with a large bank account/trust fund attached to it"...funny how that works out. Fortunately, I have gotten to know them and they let me take a few pics...and recreate their fabulous new house here for y'all. Well, mostly...as can be seen from the photos, I enlarged the front balcony and played with the yard. The Christmas tree is for that fresh holiday look, which explains...at least for here in the south...why it is in the front room of the house, with no curtain to block the view of it. This is a custom I have watched every year I've lived here in the Deep South...how to keep up or pass the Joneses while maintaining decorum, grace, posture, and not be openly rude about it.  Somehow, I have come to admire the Southern Hospitality etiquette...probably because it teaches how to cut people down to size with a smile on my face...that is right up my alley!

OolongAiki's Archive / Yasumi No Mizu (Vacation with water)
« on: September 05, 2007, 08:18:39 AM »
When I started building this house I was wondering just how much water I could put on a small lot and still have a nice, functional vacation home.  The result I present to you now...Yasumi no Mizu, which means vacation with water in Japanese.

There's not much to say about this lot except that it's small, efficient, and excellently appointed at the same time.  It's got a very open design, made to combine both inside and outdoor spaces in one harmonious whole.  I saw this home in an anime, though I watch so many I couldn't exactly tell you which one! :grin

Enjoy!  And please leave comments on this one.  I did a lot of experimenting and I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did building it.

Thanks to:
www.mangosims2.free.fr for the floor
mia86 at MTS2 for the roof tile recolor
www.holysimoly.com for the fences
www.tribeccasims2.com for the floors
Brighten11 at MTS2 for the floor (coolest stone path ever!)
4ESF for their great modern doors, etc.
Lucas at aussietopenders for the giant hydrangea...another item I can't live without!
and also thanks to all the great creators at the Exchange for the terrain paints

The lot is fully furnished and only around 40,000 simoleons

Welcome Home

OolongAiki's Archive / Martinique *Exclusive*
« on: September 05, 2007, 07:45:09 AM »
Martinique, a luxury home built on a 3 x 3 lot, boasts plenty of amenities for the Sims who loves to entertain, including a gorgeous 3-story great room enclosed by a towering wall of glass!

The first floor features a beautifully appointed modern kitchen, formal dining toom, an intimate spa, and a luxurious bath.  The centerpiece, however, is the enormous great room that can handle any occasion that may arise, from a banquet to a formal wedding, or just one huge slammin' party!

The second floor provides two bedrooms, an additional bathroom, an office/study plus bonus space that could be made into additional bedrooms.

On the third floor is an additional bedroom plus access to two of the five balconies this home offers which provide plenty of space for outdoor living.

The attic is for storage (basically a place to stick all of the stuff your Fortune Aspiration Sims want for no reason at all), and a stargazer's loft.

Thanks to:
4ESF for all of the great items.
Pimp My Sims for the great hedges and other stuff they've made
Reflex Sims for their great stuff

Commanding views and dramatic spaces define this exotic estate home.  The wide hipped roof, columns and arches of the front facade announce this elegant estate in which classic European beauty meets modern convenience and style.  Under the deeply recessed portico, family and friends are embraced by a dramatic entry and led into the grand interior.

Past the foyer, rooms flow seamlessly one into another, offering generous views of the outdoors.  To the right of the foyer, a stunning staircase ascends to the second floor loft, upper guest suite, and gameroom, which accesses the upper deck.

A stunning living room takes center stage, a wall of glass offering another beautiful view outdoors.  Adjacent to the foyer to the left, the study and sumptuous master retreat offer nearly everything needed to luxurious relaxation, including a unique A.M. kitchen for those times when you just aren't ready to face the world before your first cup of coffee...or if you get that late night urge called fourthmeal.  (Thanks Taco Bell for putting a name on my habit.)

The master suite is truly the place to go to escape from the world.  With its own spa, sitting room, and private sitting garden, your Sims may not want to go anywhere else in the home.

Central to the informal family area is the leisure room, generously appointed gourmet kitchen and breakfast nook which transistions smoothly to the loggia, pool area, and lower guest suite.

Easily accessible from just about every area of the home, the wraparound loggia offers a multitude of seating venues, as well as a summer kitchen.  Simply put, the views will take your breath away.

To compliment all of this luxury is the detached poolhouse/guest suite.  Not only visually stunning, the rear courtyard is a zen-like retreat utilizing the peace and serenity that only water and live plants can bring.

6 bedrooms/5 bathrooms + guest house
partially furnished
all ep's through seasons required

In short, this is the home that dreams are made of.

Eep! *faints*

Well, you inspire me.  After all, it was your creations that brought me to Wicked Sims to begin with.  That and Jessica is kinda cute *pinches her*

Seriously though, thanks for your kind words.  Whenever I begin a project, I always say two things to myself:  "What can I build today to make people's eyes pop out of their heads?" and "WWHB?"  Which is, What Would Henrik Build?  BTW have you checked out what Jessica has been building?  WOW!  She's becoming some serious competition, and I remember when she was nervous about her lots.

This is great!  I was looking for a good starter home, since I can't seem to build them under 20,000 simoleons, and I simply HATE the ones that come with the game.

'Tis funny...my Jamie read your introduction and commented, "We'd probably sell a lot more homes if we could actually say those things."

I've got the perfect spot for this home, thanks!
