This is a cute two-story found in Dothan, Alabama. Built in 1910, it takes the functionality of the bungalow-style house and adds the grand fascade of a colonial. It also adds the sideyard, a style which is regaining popularity in the South.
You can imagine driving down a street lined with very old Pecan and Magnolia trees until you glance over and see this home, nestled among the trees. The home fits on a narrow lot, and looks a lot like the San Francisco rowhouses, only with a Southern Flair. Also, in typical Southern style, the lot sits on a corner, therefore no one will use the front door, but will instead go to the side screen door which leads to the kitchen. Only people who don't know the family, or on formal occasions will the front door actually be used.
I had a great time building this house. I hope you enjoy it.
