Sweet Home Alabama *Exclusive*

I decided long ago to make a go at building the home I live in, and then was further inspired by Jessica when she shared her home with us.  So, without further adieu, I present: Sweet Home Alabama, soon to be made famous (maybe?) in the upcoming film starring Danny Glover, "The Honeydripper".

The home was originally built in 1850 and used to sit on a large plantation some 40 acres large, constructed in the 'colonial antebellum' design that was so popular at the time.  A fire gutted the home ten years later, but it was rebuilt by some of the descendants of the original owners in 1930.

The first floor features a typical Southern layout, with a parlor/living room on one side of the foyer, and a study/den on the other, with the master bedroom located directly behind the parlor.  This home has plenty of bathrooms, with four downstairs and three upstairs.  Why there are so many, I don't know, but Jamie and I have converted a couple of them into large closets and the big one upstairs is now a sauna.  There are four large bedrooms upstairs, a library and a music room.

My favorite room, however, is the kitchen.  The only thing separating the kitchen from the dining room is a huge double fireplace, represented here as a single one since there are no double fireplaces in the Sims2.  Outside, there is a large backyard with a swimming pool and hot tub.  I can tell you from personal experience that this home has the ability to house and entertain large numbers of people.  I hope you enjoy the lot!

There is not a lot of custom content and what there is, all the meshes are provided for.  This home was built with all of the ep's installed, minus FFS, since I hate that stuff pack, and without Glamour Stuff, since I don't have any desire to purchase that one.

does "all ep's" mean Seasons too?  :?

I am so glad you finally made your house for the game. I hope the answer is No because I want to be able to play with it :)

No, no Seasons.  That ep won't work on the computer that I build my lots with, and my other comp has Vista, so Sims2 won't work on it.

Odd, I thought Sims 2 was one of the only games that WOULD run on Vista....I remember reading a HUGE post about games that someone had tried on Vista and this was definitely one that ran. As will Guild Wars and a few of my other favorites...the two things stopping me from making the swap now: 1) Depending on your version if you change any of your hardware (ie motherboard, processor, etc) you have to buy a new copy of vista and 2) No dependable drivers for any of my stuff (sound and video mainly)

I'll see if I can dig that post up... I take it you haven't had luck with it Aiki?

(Btw, the house is lovely!)

the sims2 website says it does work on vista, and henrik is using vista and his game works (when he has time to even turn it on lol)
You just have to make sure you have the right drivers and crap.

I am glad this one doesnt require seasons so I can play with it :)

This is awesome!  All of your homes are so beautiful.  Hope to be able to come back to Alabama soon.  I miss home.  But, this will help me "sim" a little bit of home.  Thanks so much!

Thanks for the heads up.  I hadn't tried installing the game personally and was taking the word of my eldest son (who is NOT a Sims2 fan).  Now I know, and knowing is half the battle (to quote G.I. Joe)

The sims 2 runs like a charm on Vista, I run Vista Ultimate :)
And your house is amazing!  :shock: Can't wait to see it in game so I'm downloading it now :)

And I get the hint Jessica  :lol: Will hopefully have some time to make some houses soon but I uploaded one today  :o
